Kerry A. "Mak" McKim, 56, of Port Orchard, WA, died March 20, 2002, at his home. Mak was born March 14, 1946, in Hartford, CT, to Albert and Priscilla (Fay) McKim. He graduated from Basin High School in Basin, WY, in 1964.Mak served in the United States Navy from December 4, 1964, until retiring as a Master Chief on July 7, 1993. He received numerous medals and awards including the Command Master Chief Pin; Navy Commendation Medal; Navy Achievement Medal (2); Good Conduct Award (7); Meritorious Unit Commendation; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; National Defense Service Medal (2); Navy Expeditionary Medal (2); Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign; Humanitarian Service Medal; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (5).On March 25, 1967, Mak married S. Louise (Miller) McKim in San Diego, CA.Mak's interests included leather crafting, tinkering on old cars, and working in his yard. He was of the Christian faith.Survivors include his wife Louise, of Port Orchard; son Kerry Raymond McKim, of Santee, CA; daughter Sonya Joann Elder, of Port Orchard; brother Dana I. McKim, of Burnville, MN; and three grandchildren.Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2002, 11:00AM, at First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.
