Kevin William Marshall

September 8, 1957 — October 21, 2016

Kevin William Marshall, 59, of Allyn, Washington, passed away at home on Friday, October 21, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Kevin was born September 8, 1957 in Seattle, Washington. He was raised in Tacoma, Washington attending Saint Patrick Catholic School and graduating from Bellarmine Preparatory High School in 1976. In 1977, Kevin enlisted in the United States Navy, serving until his honorable discharge in 1983.

Following his military service, Kevin attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where he earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1994. Kevin then began his career at Seattle City Light, where he worked for 16 years as a professional mechanical engineer, retiring in 2015.

Kevin was an honest, loyal, loving and remarkable man. In partnership with his wife Cindy, Kevin’s mission in life was to raise his three daughters to be smart, honest and independent. During the course of his illness, his family rallied around him sharing their loyalty and support through the hashtag #MarshallStrong.

Kevin enjoyed sharing favorite stories from his life. He once placed 5th out of 25 teams with his good friend Arland in a cross-country car race called “The Four Ball Rally” which stretched from Boston to San Diego. He had more stories of working as a Senior Health Physics Technician for nuclear power plants; his six years of service in the navy and the memorable annual hiking adventures with his daughters in the Olympics.

Kevin met the love of his life Cindy Peterson in 1987, and they married on Septemer 5th, 1987, recently celebrating 29 years together. One of his final notes to Cindy read: "You are truly the love of my life. Without you, my life would have been empty and meaningless. But with you, we accomplished raising our three girls, and I truly feel that I am leaving this world a better place, and it's because of you. I have enjoyed every day we have been together."

Above all, Kevin cherished his time with family and also loved dancing, singing and most importantly, laughing. He had a knack for sharing his wisdom with witty one-liners which will be missed by all who knew him.

Kevin is survived by his devoted wife Cindy, daughters Haley Schirch (Josh), Hannah Merrill (Sam) and Abbey; his grandchildren Jacey and twins Jett and Jadie; his parents Bobbie Dawson, Daniel Dawson and his step-mom Annie Marshall. He is also survived by his sisters Leeann Bissel (Chip), Karen Marshall and his brother John Dawson.
