October 13, 1940 — April 16, 2022

Kyoko Kodama Smith passed away peacefully on 16 April, 2022 in Port Orchard, WA
where she has been a resident for 15 years.
Kyoko was born October 13, 1940 in Hiroshima, Japan and is the only child of
Maniabu and Toshiko Horiuchi Kidama also of Hiroshima, Japan.
Kyoko was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
September 23, 1962. She married Ed Smith in Laie Hawaii July 18, 1969. Ed and
Kyoko lived in Hawaii for a few years while they attended college where she took
additional courses to get a teaching degree.
Kyoko settled in Glendale, California in 1977 where she lived until 2007 at which time
she moved to Port Orchard Washington where she was an active member of the
Southworth Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Kyoko was very talented and smart. She made beautiful jewelry, did woodworking and
loved making all kinds of crafts, all of which she used to bless the lives of those around

was an avid cook and was famous for her elaborate dinners where she would bring
together friends and family.
“God manifested in the kindness and devotion of people so good and so pure that
angelic is the only word that comes to mind.” (Jeffrey R Holland) Kyoko was an angle
and a blessing in all of our lives as a gift from our Heavenly Father.
