Lamont K Aukland “Monty” was born in Seattle on April 21, 1956 to Charles Aukland and Shirley Land. He grew up in Lynnwood where he had many childhood memories, including falling off a fence and breaking his arm, falling off his bike and breaking his collar bone and being a club member of the boy scouts of America. His sister remembers him sitting with his legs around his neck. They looked like they were on backwards! His sisters would make noises in their rooms that sounded like ghosts, which scared Monty. He later attended Meadowdale High School, and after, Olympic College in Bremerton.
Monty was visiting some friends one evening when they got a knock on the door. It was Erin, who was checking to make sure that her neighbor’s cat that had just fallen from her 3rd story balcony was doing alright. Monty and Erin clicked instantly and spent the night walking around the apartment complex in the rain. It was love at first sight.
Monty worked as a grocery store manager. He was passionate about his relationship with Jesus and his family. He always put family first. He also enjoyed watching Marvel movie marathons with Kyle and Erin, building Legos with them in front of the fire when the power was out, and watching Star Wars in the Hide-A-Bed. Monty loved traveling to Ocean Shores for spring break with Kyle and every year for his and Erin’s anniversary. He was extremely proud of becoming an Eagle Scout. Monty enjoyed the men’s group at church, bible studies, and the Relay for Life.
Monty was kind and gentle. All Kyle’s friends loved him and felt at home at our house. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Land. He is survived by his wife Erin, son Kyle, father Charles, brother Doug (Sharon) Aukland, brother Stan (Jan) Aukland, Sister Kathy (Gordan) Burnell, Terry (Mory) Atashkar, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a service held for Monty Sunday June 13th at 5pm at New Hope Church with dinner to follow.
