Laroyd Van Bullard died November 10, 2002 at Belmont Terrace in Bremerton, Washington. He was 86.He was born in Menlo, Washington April 14, 1916 to Trevor and Gladys (Butz) Bullard.Laroyd graduated from Valley High School in Menlo, Washington in 1933.Laroyd married June (Carroll) Bullard May 30, 1941 in South Bend, Washington.He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1945 - 1946 - attaining the rank of corporal.He became and engineer for Pacific County in the engineering department before moving to Port Orchard, Washington.He later became a civil engineer and was the Public Works Director and Kitsap County Engineer a total of 35 years.Laroyd was member and past president of the Retired Public Employees Council, member of (N.A.C.E.) National Association of the County Engineers and they chose him as the Nation's Top Urban and Rural County Engineer. He was Past President of the Washington State Association of County Engineers, Past President of the American Public Works Association, Past President of the Kitsap County Good Roads Association and Past President of the American Road Builders Association. He also enjoyed camping and traveling.He was a member of the Port Orchard United Methodist Church.Laroyd is survived by his wife June (Carroll) Bullard of Port Orchard, Washington; daughter - Cecelia McCready (and husband, Jim) of Port Orchard, Washington; 2 brothers; 1 sister; 5 grandchildren (Amy Beth Chamberlin, Jamie McCready, Matthew McCready, Michael McCready, Shawn McCready); and 2 great-grandchildren (Ashley Chamberlin and Alyssa McCready).A memorial service will be held at Rill Chapel of Port Orchard, Washington on Thursday, November 14, 2002 at 1:00 p.m.Inurnment will be held at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard.Memorial donations may be made to:American Cancer Society, Kitsap Unit, P.O.
