Larry Croix
January 16, 1941 -September 29, 2021
Born in Alvin Texas to Edmond Frank Croix and Evelyn Louise Tharp, Larry passed away in Tacoma, WA on September 29, 2021 after an accident at home a few days prior.
Larry left his home in Alvin, TX in 1961 to join the US Navy where he rose to the rank of Commander on the USS Enterprise before retiring in 1982. By this time he had fallen in love with the Puget Sound area, settling in Port Orchard, WA where he married Linda in 1985 and later opened an Auto Repair shop so that he could blend his love of mechanics and being in charge.
After his retirement Larry enjoyed living among the beautiful trees and wildlife, continuing to find hobbies connected to his passion for flying and engaging in much social and political commentary over the years. He valued intellect and discipline and built an extensive and diverse group of friends, who will feel the loss of his insights. “Boomer” has made his final landing.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife Linda (Lieseke), his sister Susan (Croix) Brown, daughter and son-in-law Lyn (Evelyn) and Andre YaDeau, daughter Donna Harless and son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Karanne (Gonzalez) Harless. His grandchildren Nicole (Harless) Deosarran, Natalia YaDeau, Camila YaDeau and Demian YaDeau all held special places in his heart and he kept close tabs on their lives as they migrated throughout the world. The extended clan of Croix and Tharp descendants remained an important part of his life.
Preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sally (Croix) Thomson, Larry was forever changed by the loss of his son Allen Croix.
Private services will be help at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard Washington. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the
