Laura Lynn Floyd-Smith, Age: 43, resident of Port Orchard, Washington, died on November 12, 2001 at Providence Hospital in Seattle, due to complications from surgery.Laura was born in Joliet, Illinois on July 5, 1958 to Laurence and Liah(Whittington)Smith. The family moved to Washington state, and Laura attended North Mason High School in Belfair, graduating in 1976. She also attended Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington. She was attending the Medical Assistant Program at the time of her death.On January 18, 1983, Laura married Mike Smith at Lake Holiday, Washington. She dedicated her life to being a Homemaker, excellent wife, and mother to their son, Marc.Laura loved roses, lighthouses and hummingbirds, and drama. She was an active,proud member of Christ the Rock Community Church, and a regular greeter there.Laura is survived by her husband, Mike, and her son, Marc, of the family home; a brother, Darwin Floyd of Belfair; sisters Anna Marie Dirk of Bremerton; Julia Lee Whittington-Pullen of North Richland Hills, Texas.A Memorial service will be held in Laura's honor on November 17, 2001 at 1:00 P.M., at Christ The Rock Community Church. Pastor Dwight Kennedy will be officiating.The family has asked that any memorial donations be sent to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.Arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home and Crematory.
