Lavelle Lois (DeLaGrange) Allen, 75 of Port Orchard, passed in Bremerton May 7, 2014. She was born in Spokane, WA February 20, 1939 to Robert & Mary (Taylor) DeLaGrange. She graduated from South Kitsap HS in 1957 and married Ronald Gene Allen on December 19, 1960 in Couer d’Alene, ID. He preceded her in death in 2011.
Lavelle was a homemaker and “Mom” to many neighborhood kids. Early on she had worked as a receptionist and administrator. She also volunteered at various South Kitsap schools.
She enjoyed cake & cookie decorating, fund raising, philanthropy, upholstery, decorative painting and was a gifted artist. She loved her dogs “Max” & “Charlie”. She belonged to Eastern Star and was involved in Rainbows as an advisor, Parkwood Community Club, Good Sam’s, Helpline “Major Donor”, Election Committee, South Kitsaps School Health Screening, and Port Orchard United Methodist Church.
Surviving are sons Robert (Laurie) of Stevenson, WA, Roger (Colleen) and Roy (Patty), both of Port Orchard; mother Mary DeLaGrange; sisters Lavonne Payton of North Bonneville, WA and Janice Crouch of Mesquite, NV; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service at 2 pm, May 24, 2014 at United Methodist Church in Port Orchard. Inurnment at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
