LaVonne JoAnn Forney passed away, surrounded by family, on January 25, 2015. After growing up in Montevideo, Minnesota, she met her husband, Chester, or as she called him LeeRoy or just ‘Forney’, and traveled with him across the country as his Naval Career took them from coast to coast. She finally settled in Bremerton, Washington, where she focused on the great mission of her life - caring for her family.
She loved her Sprite, her soap operas, and her books, but more than anything, she loved her family. She was at her best; home, watching the kids, running the house, and listening to everyone tell her the business of the day. Her home was filled to the brim with photos, mementos, and keepsakes from her family. If it was something her family made or liked, it became her favorite, too, and became a part of her collection. Dozens of photo albums trace her children and grandchildren from 1961 to the present.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester (LeeRoy). She is survived by her four children; Tanya, Susan, Rebecca, and Michael; and her eight grandchildren; Daniel, Darlene, Jefferey, Cathlene, David, Joseph, Matthew, and Andrew.
A memorial service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bremerton on Friday January 30, 2015 at 2pm. She will be buried at Tahoma National Cemetery alongside her husband.
