Lawrence L. Baughn

Lawrence L. Baughn, 89, formerly of Port Orchard, died March 9, 2015 at Morton General Hospital. Lawrence was born July 2, 1925 in Sweetwater, Texas to Thomas & Vera Baughn. In his early years he enjoyed building and racing midget cars. On August 17, 1946 he married June Rae in Port Orchard. He served his country in the U.S. Navy being honorably discharged in 1952. He then held many jobs, a dairy milkman, deputy sheriff, grocery manager and lastly a rigger foreman at PSNS retiring in the mid 1980’s. During retirement he loved his fishing & camping trips but still made time work as a photographer/estimator for RS Hayward Insurance. He could also be spotted at Stokes Auction’s every so often.
Survivors include: son- Larry Jr. (Mary) of Florence, Montana, two daughters – Barbara (Steve) Doolittle of Packwood & Deborah (David) Green of Poulsbo and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren that knew him as ‘Grandpa Jelly Bean’.
Services will be private at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. Cremation arrangements are handled by Rill’s Life Tribute Center. An online memorial can be accessed at www.rill.com .
