Lawrence L 'Boe' Bohannon

August 8, 1926 — June 30, 2019

Lawrence ‘Boe” was born August 8, 1926 in Urich, Missouri to Charles and Ona Mae (Lawson) Bohannon. He spent his early childhood In Quick City, MO and later married Helen Dale Elliot on May 6, 1950. Helen preceded him in death December of 2016. They enjoyed over 66 years of marriage.
They moved to Othello in eastern Washington and shortly after that they moved to Belfair. In 1952 they moved to Bremerton where they raised their children, three girls and a boy. In 1970 they moved to the Bethel area on Bethel/Burley Road in Port Orchard.
Boe’s main career was that of a plasterer in construction trades. He was a member of the Plasterer/Mason’s Union OPCIMA for sixty plus years. He often used his skills in charitable ways volunteering with Active Club to help organizations whenever they could wherever there were special needs and they could provide very skilled labor. Some of those projects included building the ‘Spook House’ for West Park Elementary School around Halloween time, and other such projects.
Boe enjoyed being a PTA dad and working with Steve in Boy Scouts of America and associated projects. He enjoyed his family and BSA and PTA were just a couple of ways he projected that.
Boe enjoyed many activities among which were fishing, raising Shelties, and slow-pitch softball. He also liked spending time at the Hama Hama River, on the Columbia River, and at Birch Bay. Among his very favorite things though were being a loyal friend, caring for family and Country music.
On June 30th he went back into the hands of our merciful and loving God. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen, grandson Brad and son-in-law Ronnie. He is survived by children Cheryl, Barbara, Steven (Connie Mae), and Connie Dale; siblings sister Louise Crawford and brother Gene Bohannon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Boe’s life is set for Friday, July 5th at 11:00 am at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
