Lawrence Burgess

Lawrence "Larry" Deven Burgess, 80 of Port Orchard, Washington died in San Angelo, Texas on January 12, 2007. He was born on July 3, 1926 in Colfax Township, Michigan to Edward & Florence (Smith) Burgess. In 1950, he married Addie Lee "Tommie" Trantham in Austin, Texas. Larry worked as a Chief Flight Mechanic with Boeing Pacific Car, retiring in 1980. He also served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 21 years, retiring in 1966 as a Staff Sargeant E-5. Larry enjoyed camping, traveling, woodworking, and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, VFW, and Good Sams Club. Surviving are his wife Addie; sons Lawrence Joe Burgess of Maple Valley, Washington, David Lee Burgess of Vancouver, Washington, and Michael Edward Burgess; sisters Linda (Larry) Cornell & Edna (Harold) Beals, both of Cadillac, Michigan; grandchildren Traci Jo (Burgess) Austin, Jodi Marie (Burgess) Olson, Jami Sue Burgess, and Chitanya Burgess; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Irvie, Ivan, Norman & Alvin and sisters Grace Tracey, Helen Wilkins & Myrna Coat. Larry was loved by so many. He traveled and made friends everywhere he went and every friend had a special place in his big heart. His best and closest relationships were the ones near home. He was very close with Tommie's family in Texas. Graveside Service on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 1:30 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. Memorial Service on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Grace Bible Church, 7070 Bethel Burley Road in Port Orchard.
