Lawrence Worland

Lawrence (Larry) Dayton Worland of Port Orchard passed on April 30, 2010 in Yuma, AZ. He was born April 19, 1920 in Silverdale, WA. to George Thomas Worland and Teckla Euphemia Orne. On March 22, 1941 he married Geraldine (Gerry) Elizabeth Reeser in Shelton, WA. Larry served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Metalsmith 3rd class. After the war, he returned to Bremerton and worked in the Naval Shipyard. Larry later transferred to Adak, Alaska where he retired on June 30, 1973. After retiring, Larry and his wife traveled extensively and then spent their winter months in Yuma, AZ. Gerry preceded him in death on February 20, 2003. Larry has three children; Lawrence (Lois) Worland of Shelton, Edward (Juliana) Worland of Port Orchard, and Jennifer (Fred) Voskuhl of Bremerton. He also has seven grandchildren; Jody Vignolo, Wendi (Ed) Brown, Margi (Hurchel) Montgomery, Kristin (Mark) Thompson, Bryan (Brandy) Worland, Jeffrey Voskuhl, and Kily (Patty) Voskuhl, plus two step grandchildren; Craig (Alisa) Hanson and Mark Hanson. There are seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild with one more due in September. Larry was preceded in death by both of his parents, two brothers; Thomas and George, three sisters Martha, Mary, and Genevieve. Surviving are two sisters; (Larry’s twin) Florence Slaton of California, Teckla (Lyle) Sunderland of Bremerton, and one brother John Worland of Bremerton; along with numerous nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service will be held May 26, 2010 at 4:00PM at Rill Chapel, 1151 Mitchell Ave., Port Orchard, WA. Reception following.
