Lee Lynn Speer, 79, a Port Orchard resident, died March 20, 2010 at Retsil Veteran’s Home. He was born June 14, 1930 in McIntosh, South Dakota to Lee and Ruby (Jewell) Speer. He graduated from Meridian HS in Bellingham, Washington in 1948 and served a brief stint in the Army then served in Navy until his retirement in 1969 with over 20 years. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He married Joan Cook in Port Orchard on April 8, 1989. He went on to the Postal Service for 23 years retiring again in 1992. He loved music and dancing, his family and friends and was a life member of VFW Post 2669 serving as Quarter Master for nine years. He is survived by his loving wife Joan; sons Stephen (Laurie) of Allen, Andrew (Linda) of California, Scott of Everett and Troy of Marysville, WA; daughters Veronica Sapp of NC, Donna Mann (David) of Puyallup and Darla Seidel (Harlan) of South Carolina; brother Lewie (Daloris) of Olympia; sisters Winifred Gail (George) of Grapeland, Texas, Arleen Watson of Port Orchard and Eleanor Sharrett (Lester) of Belfair; and fourteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Leland and Leslie; sisters Rosemarie, Colleen and Arliss. elebration of life will be at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard on Tuesday, March 30th at 11:00 am with a reception at VFW Post 2669 in Port Orchard at 1:00 pm.
