Surrounded by family and friends, Lennis Lyle Burt II died peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Lennis was born on June 4, 1948 in Morrehead, MN to Lennis and Ila (Vincent) Burt. He moved to the state of Washington when he was 5 years old and graduated from Tyee High School in 1966. He married his wife, and middle school sweetheart, Sandy, on August 17, 1974.
Lennis retired from the Puget Sound Naval Ship Yard in Bremerton, WA as a “Ship Fitter Forman” in 2008. After his retirement, he and his wife traveled the world in their motorhome and on many lengthy Princess cruises.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of 40 years, 5 children, Stacey Jacobson (Mickey), Dennis Garrity (Laurie), Lennis Burt III (Candy), Kathy Swope and Lorie Adolf (Evan). He enjoyed his 11 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his Father’s, Lennis Burt I and Phil Covello; Sisters Eileen Kapolis, LaRee Lewis, and Sandy Shawl; Brothers, Edward Covello and Leonard Burt.
A Celebration of his life will be held on September 27th at the Port Orchard Eagles (4001 Jackson Ave SE, Port Orchard, WA 98366) from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to the Leukemia research foundation would be appreciated.
