Lenord Vernon Friend

Lenord passed away on October 20th at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He was 89 years old. Lenord was born in Missouri and grew up in Arkansas. His mother was Flora Hardister. Lenord enlisted in the Navy in 1944 when he was 17. He was a 3 war veteran. He served in World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. In 1957 w he transferred to the Air Force which he retired from in 1966. He then went to work in the Shipyard which he retired from Shop 72 in 1984 as a plannerman. Lenord volunteered at St Joseph’s Regional Health Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas and at the Chuckwagon Senior Nutrition program in Port Orchard. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Inez Agnes Friend, his son Lenord Vernon Friend Jr, and 2nd wife Julia Friend. He is survived by his daughter Patricia (Wayne) Masino, his sons Charles (Colleen) Friend, and Michael Friend, grandkids Jessica (Matt) Friend- Hanson, Danielle (Mike) Friend-Economo, Ashley Russ, Christopher Friend, Amy Russ, Inez Friend, Patricia Friend and a great grandson Koa Bruno. The family would like to thank Dr. Albrecht and the Olympic Kidney Dialysis center in Port Orchard for their care of Lenord. Because of them the family had 4 more years of memories to cherish. Graveside services will be held on November 18, 2016 at 1pm at Sunset Lane Memorial Park Cemetery 1000 Bethel, Port Orchard, WA 98366.
