Leon Daniel Harris

December 11, 1942 — November 18, 2021

Leon Daniel Harris was born on December 11, 1942 in South Bend, Washington to Leon and Rose (Brown) Harris. He was five years old when his family moved to Gold Beach, Oregon where he lived until after his graduation from Southern Oregon University.

He taught high school English and drama for a few years before relocating to Kitsap County. He then started working for Safeway where he remained until his retirement. Teaching training classes to new employees at various Safeway stores was by far his most gratifying job assignment.

Leon married Vivian Gladson in 1978 in Port Orchard. They made many good memories in their thirty one years together. They hosted many family get-togethers and shared some club activities. Leon didn't mind at all "having" to travel to Hawaii to visit relatives from time to time. They also went on an unexpected trip after Leon won a drawing for airfare for two to Japan!

In his later years one of Leon's greatest pleasures was lunching with family and friends as often as possible. He also enjoyed casino outings with his best friend, Ron Bradshaw.

Leon left us suddenly on November 18, 2021. He was loyal, kind and generous to his loved ones and will be missed more than he could ever have imagined.

Surviving are stepchildren; Stephen (Frieda) Gladson, Daniel (Sandra) Morse, Valerie Morse and Bonnie Morse; sister Nancy (Henry) Harder; nieces Tracy Creech and Heather Harris; nephews Randy Comnick, Josh (Valarie) Harris and Daniel Harris; granddaughter Brandy Gladson and great grandchildren Avin Gladson-Bailey and Amelie Gladson-Bailey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Vivian and brother Richard Harris.
