Leon R. Mills, 78 of Port Orchard, Washington died at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton on May 11, 2005. He was born on February 8, 1927 in Raleigh, North Carolina to William and Mary (Johnston) Mills. He attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Leon married Susan Morrison on July 18, 1950 in Denver Colorado. Leon worked as a Planner at Boeing Aerospace Division for 9 years, retiring in 1988. He was a Facilities Planner at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado from 1969 to 1979. Leon was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy serving during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Leon was a Master Gardener and a member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club. He was a craftsman who enjoyed photography, boating, horseback riding, and camping. Surviving are his wife Susan; sons Lee Mills of Carson City, Nevada and Kris Mills of Golden, Colorado; daughters Pamela Black of Denver, Colorado, Karen Hansen of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Jennifer Mills of Port Orchard; brothers Robert Mills of Ashville, North Carolina and James Mills of Denver, Colorado; sister Louise Pursell of Grand Junction, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Reception will follow the service in the hospitality room.
