Leona E. "Bettyjo" Rutz died of cancer July 21, 2003 at the Northwood Lodge in Silverdale, Washington. She was 80.She was born May 21, 1923 in Pomeroy, Washington to John J. and Maude L. (Tuttle) Frankele.She married Reinhold Rutz November 15, 1955 in Lewiston, Idaho.Leona graduated from Pomeroy High School in Pomeroy, Washington in 1936.She worked as a bartender for 40 years; and, was a welder at the naval shipyard during WWII for 2 years.She raised exotic birds at Lazy R. Ranch, loved her grandchildren, enjoyed intricate painting and crafts.Leona is survived by her sons - Melvin Todd (& wife, Carol) of Hanford, California, Randy Rutz of Port Orchard, Washington; daughters - Susan Littleton (& husband, Steve) of Port Orchard, Washington; sisters - Zelma Frankele of Seattle, Washington; 4 grandchildren (Stephen and Kelsey Littleton of Port Orchard, Washington; Alex and Randi Rutz of Virginia; Debra C. Todd of Hanford, California).
