On the morning of August 4, 2023, Leonard G. Eckroth passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Leonard was born in Tacoma, Washington on November 6, 1932, to George and Cecilia Eckroth. Leonard had three brothers, George, Robert and Roger, all who preceded him in death.
Following high school, Leonard entered the Air Force in 1951, serving for four years and married his wife of 69 years, Joyce B. (Stojack) Eckroth while on leave in June of 1954. Following his time in the Air Force, Leonard and Joyce lived in Tacoma, where they started their family and Leonard worked as a meat packer for Hygrade and Seattle Cold Storage for more than 35 years. Leonard enjoyed gardening and working on their small family farm and loved watching his boys race cars at Spanaway Speedway.
Leonard and Joyce moved to Grapeview following retirement where they lived on the Puget Sound and enjoyed the water views, watching whales and digging clams. Leonard also enjoyed spending time with good friends and family, traveling, watching NASCAR races, and rooting for the Seahawks and Mariners.
Leonard leaves behind his loving wife Joyce, his sons Marty (Janet) and Mike (Kim), his six grandchildren, Lori (Aaron), Richard (Kim), Bill, Kristi, Lacey (David) and Mallory and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair, WA. Reception to follow in Church Hall.
