Leslie J. Henderson died February 11, 2003 at his Southworth, Washington home. He died of Visceral Carcinoma. He was 78.He was born September 7, 1924 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to Leahlea (Brown) Henderson and Leslie M. Henderson.Leslie attended high school; and, served in the U.S. Navy from December 17, 1941 through July 3, 1961. He attained the rank of First Class Petty Officer and was awarded the Purple Heart in World War II.While in the U.S. Navy, he worked as a fire control technician for 20 years.He worked in Civil Service as a Supervisor of Shipbuilding: 13th Naval District - retiring after 20 years.Leslie enjoyed golf and bowling.He is survived by his wife, Frances L. (Haverfield) Henderson of the family home in Southworth, Washington; son - James L. Whitford and Dan Whitford of Southworth, Washington and Daniel J. McFadden of Maple Valley, Washington; daughters - Sandra Snavly of Palm Desert, California, Carol Danielsen of Quilcene, Washington, Cherryl L. Redburn of South Colby, Washington; brother - Darrell Henderson of Redding, California; sisters - Alta Bruggeman of Belle Fourche, South Dakota and Elma Coop of Seaside, Oregon; 9 grandchildren (Shawn Whitford, Jennifer Whitford, Jill Clampitt, Max Redburn, Randi Leigh Redburn, Norm Willardson, Leilani McFadden, Dean McFadden, Madeline McFadden); 5 Great-grandchildren (Carolina Whitford, Banner Whitford, Ryan Willardson, Dylan and Tyler Willardson). He was preceded in death by sisters - Anna Nelson and Alameda Renner and brothers - Emerson Henderson and Norman Henderson.A memorial service will be held at Rill Chapel of Port Orchard, Washington on Friday, February 14, 2003, at 2:00 p.m.Memorial Donations may be made to:American Cancer SocietyKitsap UnitP.O.
