Mom was born April 17, 1955 in Seattle, Washington to Doris Malvern and James Malvern. Mom was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Mom was the 4th in line out of 6 kids. Mom grew up on Queen Ann Hill went to West Queen Ann, MaClure Junior High, and Queen Ann High School.
Our Mother found her future husband David when she was 12 years old. After all those years chasing our father, Mom and Dad finally married on Feb. 2, 1974. Mom was 18 and Dad 19 years old. Nine months later they welcomed their first born, Rachel Ann Petersen, on Nov. 13, 1974. By the time our Mother was 26, she was a Mother of 4. She was a stay at home mom until her youngest John was school.
Mom got her 1st job at Lake City Maytag where she worked for a few years. Mom was working at the Corner House Café at Northgate as Manager when she became a Grandmother at 38 years old on October 26, 1993 when she welcomed David Robert. Mom had a few other jobs, Thriftco, Baranots for 19 years and Bethel Square up until Mom was sick and couldn’t any more.
By the time Mom was 56 years old she was a Grandmother of 9.
Mom loved many things: Family, crocheting, crafts and camping – whether it was up at Index or the Ocean, she loved it. Mom had an amazing green thumb; she loved gardening. But, we can all agree Mom’s #1 hobby was her grandchildren: David, Thomas, Natalie, Sierra, Hayley, Daniel, Kevin, Nevaeh and James.
Mom left us on Nov. 6 to go be with GOD, along with her parents, Brother Jim, nephew Chris and granddaughter Nevaeh.
Leslie left behind many, many family members and friends: David, her one and only true love, her 4 children Rachel, Joanne, Danielle and John, 9 Grandchildren, 2 son-in-law’s Brian and Rob, 1 daughter-in-law Kelly, 4 sisters Carol, Sue, Lynne and Gwen, many Nieces and Nephews, *Pete (Mom’s guard dog) and many, many more.
