Linda L. James-McCrae of Port Orchard, Washington died January 12, 2006 in Port Orchard. She was 84. She was born March 9, 1921 in Liverpool, England to William and Lilly (Ward) Ball. Linda married Walter "Wally" Briski in Tacoma, Washington on April 7, 1987. She received: a PHD - Psychology (certified forensic psychologist) from Georgia State University in 1976; Juris Doctor from University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. in 1983; MSW, Med - 1969 from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Linda served as a Major in the Army from 1943 - 1946 (France - Germany); Main Station General Eisenhower Supreme Headquarters; spoke fluent French - liason with French Underground; relief driver for General Patton; witness at Nuenberg Trails. She worked 28 years as a social worker in Kitsap County - retiring in 2000. Linda was owner, Executive Director: Kitsap Counseling Center. Her secondary career was that of counseling. She was a member of REO (Reserve Officers Association); Eagles Aux - British Club; PEO Philisophical Educational Organization); MOA (Military Officers Association); NASW (National Association of Social Workers); Red Hat Society; BBJPS (Dance Club); People to People Ambassador Program (Human Rights Group); Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce. Linda was a great benefactor of many animal charities (too many to list, but mainly P.E.T.A. and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kolb, Utah). Linda is survived by husband - Walter Briski of Port Orchard; 4 sons of Port Angeles, WA., Seattle, WA., Bellevue, WA. and Puyallup; 1 daughter of Missoula, MT.; 2 brothers of Capetown, South Africa; 1 sister of South Hampton, England; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; special friends: Bill and Sharon Covington, Walt and Arra Youngstrom; and Rita Monson. She was preceded in death by first husband - Ian McCrae (shot down in the Battle of Britain - was a spit-fire pilot). A memorial service will be held at Rill's Life Tribute Center of Port Orchard, Washington on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
