Lois Sackman Kvarnstrom

Lois Alene Sackman Kvarnstrom died at Manor Care in Gig Harbor, Washington, on September 11, 2001, at the age of 86. She was born January 3, 1915, in Tracyton, Washington, the youngest child of Joseph Wright Sackman and Lulu B. Sackman, a pioneer family who logged and settled this area. She was a direct descendant of Chief Sealth, 3rd generation great granddaughter, and was a member of the Duwamish Indian Tribe.On June 21, 1933, she married Roy Kvarnstrom in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death 2 days before their 50th wedding anniversary.Lois was very proud that she made her first cedar bark storage basket at the age of 86 under the tutelage of her daughter Mary Lou Slaughter. She was also an avid Mariner's fan.She is survived by 2 sons, Carl Kvarnstrom and his wife Sandi, of Shelton, WA, and Jack Kvarnstrom and his wife Dana, of Snoqualmie, WA; 1 daughter, Mary Lou Slaughter and her husband Chuck, of Port Orchard, WA; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.She will be laid to rest in the Tracyton Cemetery, which was donated to the city of Tracyton by her father.
