Loran Thomas Avery

Loran Thomas Avery passed away at home on May 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving children, Karen McCotter (Ray), William Avery and Cathy Minish (David), after a short battle with cancer. He was 89. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Florence.
He was born May 16, 1931 in Seattle and moved to Manette with his family as a young boy. At the age of 17 he joined the Navy and served for 4 years during the Korean War. He and our mom married in 1956 and he joined the Air Force as a Crash & Rescue Fire Fighter. He was stationed in Germany, California, Florida, Alaska, and while in Hawaii, he was sent to Vietnam where he served a short tour on an Air Strip.
He retired from the Air Force in 1972 and worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 11 years before retiring.
