Loretta Chapman

January 4, 1921 — April 12, 2010

Loretta E. Chapman, 89, a resident of Port Orchard, was born in Joliet, IL on January 4, 1921 to Elmer and Laura (Cochran) Walker. She retired from IAA after 20 years as an office worker and from SEARS as a sales clerk working with Insurance after 20 years.   Loretta loved people and was always willing to help others in any way possible. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Normal, IL where she was a leader for the AWANA program working with younger children. She enjoyed all activities and social events especially if they included family.  She loved Church and her favorite song was “I’ll Fly Away” which was her reminder of God’s promise to take her home someday.  She died of natural causes on Monday, April 12, 2010 and went back into the hands of our loving and merciful God.  She is survived by daughters Erma Lambert (Marvin) and Joan Maston both of Port Orchard, and Carol Cox (Bob) of Greenville, OH; son Raymond Chapman of Las Vegas, NV;  sister Shirley Dougherty of Ottawa, IL, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Elmer and Daniel Walker and son Wayne Chapman.  Committal service will be at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor, WA on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 11:00 am with a reception immediately following at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
