Loretta Smith

Loretta Marie ‘Lottie’ Smith, 82, died peacefully on March 5, 2009 in Bremerton. She was born on July 31, 1926 in Spokane to Joe and Margaret (Burkhart) Mackin. She married Bernard Smith on November 1, 1944 in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. He preceded her in death in 1990. She enjoyed doing genealogy, reading and family gatherings. She always had a ready smile and accepted people unconditionally. She was preceded in death by daughters Amber (Hay) and Mary; sons Lawrence and Joseph. She is survived by sons Michael Smith of Bremerton and Steve Smith (Lori) of Port Orchard; daughters Mary De Tienne of Tacoma and Carrie Mackin of Bremerton; brothers Francis Mackin (Vicki) of Spokane, Harold Mackin (Mary) of CA, Col Jim Mackin of Lynden, and Mike Mackin (Sharon) of CA; sisters Helen Zeis of Spokane and Rose Ellen St. Dennis of Bremerton; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard .
