Lorna Starkel

Lorna Marie Starkel, 80, of Gig Harbor, Washington, formerly of Southworth, Washington, died of cancer at her home on August 17, 2004. She was born October 30, 1923 in Annapolis, Washington to William H. and Emma (Johnson) Hatfield. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington in 1941. Lorna married James E. Starkel on February 10, 1945 in Port Orchard. Lorna was a homemaker and a "stay at home mom". She enjoyed camping, Eagles R.V. Club and traveling in the RV, and her family and friends. She was a member of the High School Class of 1941 Committee and Eagles Auxiliary 2338 Port Orchard. Surviving is her husband James E. Starkel of the family home; sons Richard Starkel and wife Barbara of Fairview Lake, Washington, Roger Starkel of Southworth, Washington; grandchildren Nicklaus, Neil & Kayla Starkel, Myron Cross, and Jenine Monahan; great-grandchildren Evan, Colby & Collin Starkel, and Ryan Monahan. Memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. A private inurnment will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions be made to the Cancer Fund of 2338 Auxiliary in Port Orchard, Washington.
