Louis Notar

Louis G. Notar of Port Orchard, Washington, died of a heart attack December 14, 2006 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Washington. He was 79. Louis was born April 25, 1927 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Mae (Walker) and Louis Notar. He married Gaye Anne (Eakins) Notar August 9, 1980 in Gig Harbor, Washington at the King of Glory Lutheran Church. Louis graduated from Bremerton High School in 1946 and attended Whitman College. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War, teaching survival skills and map reading in Atlanta, Georgia and in San Luis Obispo, California. Louis worked 38 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1983. He started as an apprentice, became a Marine Electrician and retired as a Planner and Estimator. Additionally, he was employed at CDI Marine as a Marine Electrician. He was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Gig Harbor serving as Elder, Trustee, Vice President of the Congregation, and custodian. He was a recent member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Port Orchard. Louis enjoyed painting and reading. He loved to research subjects of interest (i.e. - World History, Art History, travel, etc.) He loved to travel and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Gaye Notar of Port Orchard; sons, John (Corrine) Notar of Port Angeles, Washington and Tom (Darcy) Notar of Port Orchard; sister, Edith Holt of Bremerton; and 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Troyal, Layne, Brandon and Meagan. Louis was preceded in death byhis parents, and sisters, Patricia (Notar) Kettenring and JoAnn Notar. A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 22, 2006 at Bethany Luthern Church in Port Orchard. Burial will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard on Friday, December 22, 2006 at 11:00AM. Memorial donations may be made to: Bethany Lutheran Church Memorial Fund 151 Tremont W.
