Louise Anne Ness (Gehring) was born to Edward and Floy (Root) Gehring in Waseca, MN. At the age of eight she moved with her family to Montana, where she stayed until marrying Ray Ness in 1943. Shortly after their wedding they moved to Port Orchard, WA.
Over the years Louise was involved in many community, church and social organizations.
When her children were in elementary school she was involved in the PTA. She and husband Ray were also members of the Federal Order of Foresters and they enjoyed square dancing. She served as a Cub Scout leader. When her brother Buck opened the A &W in Port Orchard, 1959, she began working for him, first as a fry cook and over the years took on managing responsibilities. She continued her involvement with the A &W up until a few years ago.
Louise was Port Orchard’s Woman of the Year in 1989.She was involved with Sidney Museum and Arts Association for many years as well as Sons of Norway, Kitsap Weavers Guild, and Christian Life Center (CLC). She did a lot of traveling to many parts of the world which she greatly enjoyed. Hobbies that she enjoyed included spinning, weaving and knitting. Her favorite activity was to have “get togethers” for family and friends.
Louise loved spending time with her family, especially for Christmas and Holidays.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband Ray Ness, Brothers Lee Gehring, Dean Gehring, Robert (Buck) Gehring, Lonnie Gehring, Sister Nancy and sons Dick Ness and Ronald Ness. She is survived by brothers Humphry Gehring, Joe Gehring, sisters Lorraine Mahoney, Patty Levenseller, Wilma Jordan and daughter Floy (Ness) Ziegler as well as six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
