Mabel Eva (Nickell) Gourlie, 100, a long-time resident of Port Orchard, died in Bellingham on May 17, 2012 She was born on September 3, 1911 to Issac Wilson & Cora Evelyn (Rader) Nickell in Twisp, WA. She graduated from Okanogan High School in 1931 and married Walter Gourlie in February of 1933. Mabel loved the mountains, hiking and camping, but most of all she was devoted to her daughters and grandchildren. She was a member of the Eastern Star and helped with Rainbow Girls. She is survived by daughters Melode Sapp of Port Orchard and Diane Nelson of Bellingham; grandchildren Wilson and Ronald Sapp, Jason Sawdye, Kelly Swendt, Lorie Washburn, Rebecca Bridgeman & Angela Sawdye; great-grandchildren Madeline & Landon; and beloved nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter Gourlie and sister Sonne’ Enger. Graveside service at 2:00pm on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
