Mabel Johnson

March 17, 1918 — June 6, 2008

Mabel Evalene Johnson, 90 of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton on June 6, 2008.  She was born March 17, 1918 in Bassett, NE to Alma & Ida (Hansen) Fry.  She graduated from Riverton HS in Riverton, WY in 1935 and married Lowren Edward Johnson on October 7, 1936 in Thermopolis, WY. Mabel retired in 1974 after a long and distinguished career at Mt. Rainier Ordnance Depot & Fort Lewis, earning several commendations.  She enjoyed her family  crosswords, jigsaws, knitting & crocheting, and was a big Mariner fan.  Surviving are son Wesley (Kathleen) Johnson of Tacoma; daughter Carol (Jim) James of Port Orchard; sister Dorothy (Don) Craig of Port Orchard; grandchildren Tracy (Michael) Huntley, Scott (Marilyn) James, Jimi (Jace) James, Wesley Johnson, Jr. & Steven (Kerri) Johnson; great-grandchildren Connor & Chase Huntley, Lowren, Lindsey, Austen, & Elliott James, Ben, Britney, Nick, Chloe & Eliza Johnson; step-grandchildren Mike, Dan, Brandee Bell; nephew Ralph Dale Craig; friends & staff at Ridgemont Terrace.  She was preceded in death by sisters Vivian David & Lillian Cox and brothers Jim & George Fry.  She was nick named "Nana Banana" by her Great Grandchildren.  Private Graveside service at on June 16, 2008 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
