Mabel Dorothy Prawitz-Petsch , 97, a resident of Port Orchard, WA, died March 7, 2012. She was born April 7, 1914 in Everson, WA, the fourth of six daughters to Jacob Earl and Willa Faye (Sivits) Mahan. Mabel lived in the Portland, OR area for 40 years with her husband Mel Prawitz and raised their two children Maureen Eliason Patton of Maryland and Marvin ‘Willie’ Prawitz there. Mel preceded her in death in 1971. She later married Arlo Petsch who also preceded her in death. In her school days she played basketball and baseball on all girl teams and she also played a soprano saxophone in a band with her future husband Mel while they were dating. Those who knew her later in life referred to her as the energizer bunny as the only thing that seemed to slow her down was her age. She is survived by her two children, eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. One nephew said that there were too many extended family members to list them all. Celebration of Life service will be at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, Saturday, March 10 at 9:30 am with interment at Sunset Hills in Portland, OR at 3:30 pm.
