Mae passed away on August 14, 2013; she was born on June 16, 1918 to William and Georgia Robertson in Madill OK. She was one of 9 children.
She was married to Perry “Pinky” Williams on October 21, 1936 and was married for 34 year before Pinky died on December 15, 1970. They lived in Manson, during that time Mae was a cook at the logging camp up Lake Chelan. Then moving to Badger Mountain on a Ranch where they raised Livestock and Dry Land Potatoes for Vick’s Drive-In. During their time at the ranch they had they had their son, Jack. They moved to Ballard for a short time for a job in the Lockheed Ship Yard, they decided then, they missed country living, Friend and Neighbors so they moved back to Badger Mountain. Later they moved Waterville, and started an Upholstery Shop where Mae did the sewing. Mae was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scout. In 1955 they moved to the Entiat Valley at Potato Creek, later settling on the Entiat River near Ardenvoir, Washington. Mae and Pinky cherished the time with their family and watching the family grow. They were avid Rock hounds and were members of the Gingko Mineral Society. Mae was the Secretary of the Club for many years. Mae and Pinky were instrumental in keeping Saddle Mountain open for the public to hunt rocks. They were part of the organization that implemented the assigning of the State Rock and State Gemstone to what they are today. Mae enjoyed showing her rock collection all over the Western US including the Washington State Capital. She was also a Delegate of the Washington State Mineral Council for many years. Mae wrote many articles for the Newspapers and for the Washington State Mineral Council.
In the late 50’s, Mae took a job with Small Brothers Orchard packing apples until she took a job with the Entiat School district as a secretary in the early 80’s, she enjoyed being around the children at the school, she told everyone it keeps her young. Mae later moved to E. Wenatchee with Claude Johnston a longtime friend. Mae and Claude traveled the world and went on many Cruises. They continued as members of the Gingko Mineral Society together and were very active in the organization. Mae always enjoyed having family and friends around and making Chicken and Noodles, especially with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sharing her love for rocks and teaching her grandchildren which ones to keep. Mae and Claude lived together until February 2003; due to health reasons Mae move to Mountain Meadows in Leavenworth. Mr. Johnston died shortly after on May 30, 2004. In 2005 she moved to Port Orchard WA to be close to her family. On Oct 15, 2010 Mae was blessed with the 5th generation of her family with the Birth of Wyatt Jacobson and on June 25, 2011 with the birth of Elijah Tellier.
Mae is survived by her son Jack R Williams, Port Orchard, 3 Grandchildren, Heidi Morrison, Holly Lanoue (Harry), Kirk Williams and their mother Judy Williams, 6 Great Grandchildren Ashley Ray, Amanda Williams, Alek Morrison, Aiden Morrison, Kyle Lanoue, Jason Lanoue and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren Wyatt Jacobson, Elijah Tellier and one brother Don Robertson (Lucille), Dallas Texas and several Nieces and Nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Pinky, 4 brothers Robert, George, Henry, Jim and 3 sisters Addie, Lillie, Dorothy, also longtime friend and companion Claude Johnston.
There will be a Graveside Service at Entiat Cemetery September 14, 2013 11:00 am followed by Family and Friends Fellowship with Luncheon at the Entiat Federated Church at Noon.
