With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all that knew her, Maizie Razey (nee. Andersen). On April 12, 2025, Maizie left her earthly body to be with God, her husband and daughter, along with other family members both human and animal who passed before her. She went peacefully and is whole again cradled in the arms of the Lord.
Maizie was born on August 1, 1937 in Leith, ND where she lived until 1955. After graduating from Leith High School, Maizie joined the U.S. Navy. She wanted to see the world. Maizie did her basic training at US Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, Maryland. She was stationed at Naval Air Technical Training Air Station, Memphis, Tennessee. In Memphis, she met and married Bernard Razey.
Maizie met Bernard Robert (Bob) Razey, she beat him playing pool. After three or four months, Bob turned 21 and they were married on June 29, 1956. Maizie often joked that she went to Memphis to find that name, becoming Maizie Razey. Maizie and Bob were then transferred to Naval Air Station, Newport, Rhode Island. Bob was sent to the USS Saratoga, later sailing to Cuba during what I knew as the Cuba Conflict.
After Maizie became pregnant, she received an honorable discharge. After Bob was discharged from the Navy, they made their way to Pt. Allegany, where their oldest child Robert, was born in 1958.
In late 1959, Maizie, pregnant with her second child, flew to College Place,Washington to be closer to her family. In 1960, their second child was born, a girl, Ramona. In 1963, their third child, Benita was born, a second daughter.
During this time, Bob was attending welding school in Pasco, Washington, where he earned his welding credentials. In 1965, Maizie, Bob and family relocated to Port Orchard, Washington where Bob had a job welding at PSNS.
Over the years, Maizie was involved in her church, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, bowling and selling Avon.
In later years, Maizie and Bob joined the Eagles and the Gold Wing Association.
After Bernard “Raz,” retired from PSNS, he and Maizie traveled in the fifth wheel visiting many states and spending time visiting with relatives.
Maizie was blessed with four grandsons, Robert, Steven, Joseph and Zachary; five great grandchildren; three girls; Clara the first great granddaughter, Emma, Ophelia and two great grandsons, Danny and Ezra. Maizie loved seeing the great grandchildren.
Maizie is survived by her children, Robert and Michelle (Houle), Ramona Razey and son-in-law, Tony Kilbane; grandchildren, Robert and Amy (Chow) Razey II, Steven and Inez (Sweeney) Razey, Joseph and Mackenzie (Dobson) Razey, and Zachary Kilbane; great grandchildren, Clara, Emma, Danny, Ezra and Ophelia Razey, brothers Lee and Elaine and Ross and Carol Andersen.
Maizie was preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Mabelle Andersen, her sister, and brother in law, Bonnie and Don Zeller, her brothers, Rodney and Lyle Andersen, and her daughter Benita (Razey) Kilbane.
"I’M FREE"
Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I’ve found that peace at the close of day
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full, I’ve savored much,
Good friends, good times, my loved one’s touch
If my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart, rejoice with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
