Mamie Mayfield

Mamie Pauline (Sheppard) Mayfield, 77, died at home in Port Orchard on April 27, 2009.  She was born July 20, 1931 in Red Oak, Oklahoma to William & Myrtle (Minton) Sheppard.  She attended LeFlore High School in Oklahoma and married Carl L. Mayfield on December 15, 1947 in Willburton, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death on May 4, 1997. Mamie was a homemaker and also worked as a Nursing Assistant in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Ballard, Washington.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and baking pies.  She was a member of Free Will Baptist Church in both Tulsa and Burien, Washington. Surviving are sons James C. (Diane) Mayfield and Cecil L. (Tena) Mayfield; daughters Mary Ellen Duarte, Mamie F. (Gordon) Wilson, Patricia P. (Jose) Mendoza, Virginia Sue Barnes (Mike); brother Leon (Wilma) Sheppard of Wister, OK; sister Chieko Sheppard of Mobile, AL; grandchildren Mysie, Bryan, Mike, Jeremy, Keven, Andria, Mamie Nicole, Christina, Bill, Tony, Paul, Joshua, Kenneth, Melissa, Jesse, Chelsea; great-grandchildren Alexander & Anika Wilson, Mamie Katherine Bernardo, Ezra & Norma Mayfield, Deven & Emma Mayfield.  She was preceded in death by siblings Oleta Stephens, Thomas J. Sheppard, Rosie Ellen Palovscik, Cecil R. Sheppard. Celebration of Life service 10:00am at First Lutheran Community Church in Port Orchard on Saturday, May 2, 2009.  Burial will follow at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.  Donations may be made in her name at any Kitsap Bank location.
