Growing up in Agoo, La Union Philippine's, Manny helped his parents with their vegetable and tobacco fields. Every week he would work all day with his family to harvest and sell them in the local markets.
Manny moved to Guam when he was in his early 20's, this is where he met the love of his life Carmelita Antes. After many attempts of trying to convince her to go out with him. Carmelita took a chance, which eventually led to a long lasting, romantic relationship. They got married in 1969 and later had three beautiful kids. Arnold, Arlene and Richard.
Manuel moved his family from Guam in 1980 to Washington State, He lived in Bremerton until he settled in Port Orchard in 1982. He had a better opportunity at his job where he would better his life for himself and his family. Manny worked as an electrician for 31yrs at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He worked many hours every week and took any overtime that was offered to provide for his wife and 3 young kids.
Manny was a kind, caring, loving and selfless husband, father and grandfather. He never hesitated to help anyone in his family or circle of friends with anything that he could without any hesitation. He would give the shirt off of his back to help a family or friend.
He enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing for salmon, cod, and also enjoy smelting, crabbing, squidding. He loved his gardening, working side by side with his wife. Carmelita would be working on the flowers, while he would be tending his 10 plus trees on his property. He had a lot of Japanese pear trees along with apple and a fig tree. He loved offering his fruit to his friends and family. As well as give them to random neighbors walking in his neighborhood. - Manny enjoyed the game of dominoes and loved to be in competitions where he came in first place a few times.
He always watched nature shows, especially Andrew Zimmerman bizarre foods, but his real entertainment was in front of the TV watching WWF. The family always knew he was watching just by hearing him yell at the TV. "Get him! That's what you get! You are so stupid! This was his stress reliever for a long day at the shipyard.
Manny's favorite color was white and his favorite sayings were "come and eat" "tank you".
Visitation will be on Monday, April 30, 2015 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 31st at Rill’s Life Tribute Center. Burial will follow the service and reception, at Sunset Lane Memorial Park also in Port Orchard.
