Margaret Ethel Stockert Bauer passed away June 2, 2015. She was born September 22, 1920
in Humboldt, Sask. Canada. She was the fourth of six children. In 1957 she married Elmer
Bauer and moved to Port Orchard, WA. Since that time she has been a faithful member of
St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews – all of
whom miss her dearly. She was the last of her generation in our family.
For her first twelve years in Port Orchard, she and Elmer resided on Dekalb St. and then
later moved to Parkwood. Until her final years she was surrounded by several local
relatives (her sister Lorraine, numerous in-laws, and her nieces and nephews). Elmer passed
in 1976.
She worked many years at Barbara’s Best in downtown Port Orchard. She was good friends
with the owner, Rose Burnett. Another great pal was Mary Ponteri. She had many friends from
church and contract bridge…"Think where man's glory most begins & ends, & say my glory was
I had such friends." - Yeats
For relaxation, Margaret enjoyed bridge, cribbage and golf. She was also an inveterate traveler
having been to Europe, Asia, and Australia/New Zealand.
We will miss this graceful, classy, intelligent, and loving woman very much.
“We ourselves shall be loved for a while, and be forgotten. But the love will have been enough.
…Love, the only survival, the only meaning.”
A funeral mass & reception will be 11am Tuesday, June 9th at St. Gabriel Catholic Church followed by a graveside committal at Sunset Lane Cemetery. An on-line memorial & tribute wall can be accessed at
