Margaret Louise Keithly died peacefully in her sleep on July 26, 2014 in Port Orchard at the age of 91.
She was born September 17, 1922 in Seattle, Washington to Fred Denecke and Barbara Ott Denecke.
Both immigrated from Germany in the early 1900’s.
Margaret graduated from Highline High School and Washington State University with a degree in Home Economics and Nutrition. She later became a certified dietitian.
In 1944 she married Luther Keithly. They made a home in Zenith, Washington and started their family. In 1962 the family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where they lived for seven years. Margaret and Luther returned to Washington and eventually retired to their cabin on an oyster beach in Shelton. After Luther’s death in 2002 Margaret moved to be near her children in Port Orchard.
Margaret was an avid traveler. She spent a good part of her life spreading goodwill and cheer throughout the world. After retirement she enjoyed attending the symphony, dining out, visiting family and friends, watching the Mariner’s and gardening.
Margaret lived with a sparkle in her eyes and a song in her heart. She will be missed.
Margaret is survived by her brother, Ernie, children, John, Patricia (PL), Peter, Susie ; grandchildren: Katie, Sean, Maci, Allison, Colleen, Margo, Krista; great grandchildren: Oliver, Ryley Shea, Max, Miles, Reed, Calvin, Theo and Youseff. She is preceded in death by her brother, John her husband Luther and her grandson Tyler Mondloch.
A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Port Orchard at 4:30 PM, Sunday July 13. Her ashes will be taken to Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent, WA.
