Marge Olson, 64, of Olympia, WA, died February 19, 2002, in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Arkansas Cancer Research Center.Marge was born February 20, 1937 in Greene County, Tennessee to Howard and Laura (Gass) Stroud. In her early years, she played basketball and worked as a nurse, bookbinder, and apartment manager.On August 25, 1962, Marge married Dean Olson. They lived in Seattle, California, Canada, and Hong Kong before settling in Alaska to raise a family. Marge was an accomplished interior designer in Anchorage for many years. After moving to Washington State, she applied her talents to "fixer homes" that she and Dean bought and resold, as well as to other private homes and apartments. Marge also belonged to the Ladies of the Lake Quilting Club in Hoodsport, WA. She was an avid quilter who applied her artistic creativity to quilts by using bold colors and unique patterns. Marge enjoyed sharing her quilts with her family and friends. She was also dedicated to helping raise her grandchildren, and regularly volunteered at a local elementary school to tutor children in reading.Survivors include her husband Dean of Olympia, WA; son Anthony Greene of Everett, WA; daughters Dena Olson of Olympia, WA and Toska Olson of Tacoma, WA; sisters Janice Moore of Seattle, WA and Frances Hager of Kingsport, TN; two grandsons, a nephew, and a grandniece.A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Sunday, March 3, 2002, 2:00PM at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, WA.
