Marie Louise (Chrissy) Monta put on her pretty red dress, took her Honey Boy's (God's) hand and left for her long awaited Valentine's Dance in Heaven. She was met by her beloved husband John (Popsi) Monta, and deeply missed sisters Hilma Ruth Hardy and Mae Chamberlain. Also in attendance were other treasured family members, friends and pets. Never has there been a more happy reunion. Chrissy was born in Plattsburgh, NY on November 21st 1922 to Viola and George Lacoon. She moved to the territory of Alaska with her Mother and Step-father, John Blom, when she was six years old. She left for the West coast in her early 20's and first lived in California, later making Washington her permanent home. A highly respected insurance sales representative for Met Life, she retired from a successful career there at the age of 55. She devoted a great deal of her life to organizations that were grounded in the principles of friendship and empowering women. In the course of her life, she held several honorable positions in both the Pythian Sisters and Eastern Stars. She is survived by daughters Susanne Sullivan (Joseph) of Bremerton and Debbie Bennett (Randy) of Port Orchard, son Dean Christensen (Alice) of South Carolina, and grandson Eugene Christensen also of South Carolina. She had many other children and grandchildren not of her blood but of her heart and taught them well not to know the difference. Marie was a woman whose brilliance only matched her kind heart. She had a beautiful way with people and was dearly loved by all that knew her even in the smallest way. She had an uncanny way of knowing exactly what it was you needed and gave it gracefully with eyes twinkling. She loved to travel, laugh, spend time her family, cuddle with her cat Jasmine, keep a pristine home, cook, entertain and dance. She was generous with her kisses, hugs and terms of endearment. Dance your heart out, honey girl. Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Kitsap County Humane Society.
