Marilla Tipton

Marilla A. Tipton, 84, died at her home in Port Orchard, Washington on March 17, 2000.  She was born on August 25, 1915 in Bath, Maine to Edward J. & Clara (Bulger) Morey.  Marilla moved to Michigan at age 7 where she graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1932.  She moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1942.Ms. Tipton worked for 10 years as a Waitress at the Washington Athletic Club retiring in 1982.  Marilla was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for 15 years and was previously employed as a hat check girl at the Port Orchard Eagles.  She was also a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.Surviving are sons Thomas J. Hanley of Kipnuk, Alaska and Charles E. Tipton of Port Orchard; daughter Patricia Hart Hayes of Tacoma; sister Harriet Simonsen of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and 15 grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by sisters Arletta Skanes and Dorothy Grassman.A Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, 2000 at 3:00 pm at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.  The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer Society, Kitsap Unit, P.O.
