Marilla A. Tipton, 84, died at her home in Port Orchard, Washington on March 17, 2000. She was born on August 25, 1915 in Bath, Maine to Edward J. & Clara (Bulger) Morey. Marilla moved to Michigan at age 7 where she graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1932. She moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1942.Ms. Tipton worked for 10 years as a Waitress at the Washington Athletic Club retiring in 1982. Marilla was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for 15 years and was previously employed as a hat check girl at the Port Orchard Eagles. She was also a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.Surviving are sons Thomas J. Hanley of Kipnuk, Alaska and Charles E. Tipton of Port Orchard; daughter Patricia Hart Hayes of Tacoma; sister Harriet Simonsen of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Arletta Skanes and Dorothy Grassman.A Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, 2000 at 3:00 pm at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
