Marilyn Sproul Anderson passed away peacefully on July 24, 2015, with family nearby, after a long illness.
Marilyn was born May 9, 1936 to Kenneth Malcolm Sproul and Clenna June Jackman Sproul. She was the oldest of nine children. She attended school in the Snake River School District in Blackfoot, Idaho, graduating Snake River High School in 1954. She married Leo “Bert” Walton on June 21, 1954 – they were blessed with six children: Donna Marlene Wilson (Merlin), Annette Marie Cook, Kathryn Lynne Rowbury (Craig), Clyde Leon Walton (Tonya), Sherrie Kay Parris (Earl) and Clenna LaRue Smith (Troy). Bert died August 6, 1974. Marilyn married Darwin Lee Anderson on December 9, 1975 and became “step mom” to three more children: Marletta Gerrard (Bob), Timothy Dale Anderson (Maribel), and Betty Lyn Bonilla (Eddie). Marilyn and Darwin have 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Marilyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was an active member of her church and held many callings, from Nursery Leader to Relief Society President to Cub Scouts. She and Darwin completed a Service Mission at Zion's Camp, and also spent thirteen years and countless hours volunteering in the Seattle WA temple, which she enjoyed immensely. She loved spending time doing things for and with her family and friends, gardening and her flower beds, and doing crafts and sharing what she made with others.
Marilyn is Survived by her husband, Darwin Anderson; Children: Merlin Wilson of Blackfoot ID, Marletta and Bob Gerard of Green River WY, Annette Cook of Port Orchard WA, Kathryn and Craig Rowbury of Tetonia ID, Tim and Maribel Anderson of Puyallup WA, Clyde and Tonya Walton of Weston ID, Sherrie Parris of Port Orchard WA, Betty Lyn and Eddie Bonilla of Spokane WA, and Clenna and Troy Smith of Orofino, ID; her many grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren, and seven of her siblings.
She is preceded in death by: her first husband, Leo Bert Walton; her parents Kenneth Malcolm and Clenna June Jackman Sproul; her sister Ann Sproul Pruden; her daughter Donna Marlene Wilson; and son-in-law Earl DeVear Parris.
Marilyn was a great woman whose smile and sense of humor will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Services to honor and remember Marilyn are as follows: Viewing on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center, 1151 Mitchell Ave, Port Orchard WA. A second viewing will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 10-10:45 am, with funeral services to follow at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3877 SE Mullinex Rd, Port Orchard WA. Interment will be at Fraola Cemetery after the funeral services.
