Marissa Ann Goodell, 16, of Belfair, Washington died in Port Orchard, Washington on February 20, 2005. She was born on May 2, 1988 in Tacoma, Washington to Daniel and Barbara (Willard) Goodell. Marissa was a Junior at North Mason High School in Belfair. She worked as a file clerk at her father's law firm in Belfair and also did babysitting. Marissa enjoyed Kayaking with her Belfair youth group "Paddle" in the wooden Kayak she made herself. Her school activities included the North Mason High School Band where she played the Clarinet, soccer team, and fast pitch softball team. She also enjoyed photography and horseback riding. Marissa was a member of the North Mason United Methodist Church where she served as a pre-school Sunday School Teacher. Surviving are her parents Daniel and Barbara Goodell of Belfair; brother Quinten Dean Goodell of the family home; Paternal Grandparents Donald and Patricia Goodell of Puyallup, Washington; Maternal Grandparents Jack Willard and companion Claire Fletcher of Orting, Washington, Paternal Great-Grandmother Helen Goodell of Puyallup; Aunt & Uncles Jacqui and Garret Hawn, Lonnie Goodell, Kathleen and Claude Soones, Jim King, Michael and Jennifer Goodell; cousins Spencer and Derek Hawn, Heather and Alvin Smith, Holly and Paul West, Josh and Brooke Goodell. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the North Mason High School in Belfair (see directions below). Memorial donations may be made to the Marissa Ann Goodell-Shining Star Scholarship Fund, at any branch of Kitsap Bank or Washington Mutual. Directions to North Mason High School: From Bremerton Ferry - exit ferry onto Washington Ave, go 1 block & turn left onto Burwell. Go to the 5th traffic light and turn left on Callow - merge onto Hwy 3 South (shortly after the shipyard). Once merged, stay in right lane to make the Hwy 3 South exit in Gorst. Stay on Hwy 3 South all the way thru Belfair. At the big "Y" in the road, stay to the left, going up the hill, still on Hwy 3 South. the school is located 2 miles up this hill. You will pass a power plant and go under a train trestle and then you will see the school buses and a big reader board on your left. Turn left into North Mason Schools and then an immediate right up to the high school parking lot. Main building with the gym in on the right side of the lot. From Port Orchard: Take Hwy 16 toward Bremerton. In Gorst, stay in the left lane for a left exit to Hwy 3 South staying on this Hwy 3 South thru Belfair - follow the directions above to the school. From Tacoma: After crossing the Narrows Bridge, stay on Hwy 16 northbound past Gig Harbor and then take the Purdy exit (for Hwy 302 West). The exit winds down into the town and you will get in the left turn lane at the first trafic light, making a left turn on Hwy 302 West. Cross the bridge and go 5 miles to the Elgin-Clifton Road. This is a continuation of Hwy 302 (just a section that has a name). Make a right on Elgin-Clifton Road and stay on it for 9 1/2 miles. You will pass a fish hatchery & cross a tiny bridge in the road. Right after the bridge is the Victor Cutoff Rd to your right - make a right turn and go all the way up the road to the stop sign. Make a right turn onto Hwy 3. Go around the curve and the North Mason High School reader board is on your right. Make a right turn onto the high school road and an immediate right turn up the driveway to the school - main building with the gymn is the big building on the right side of the parking lot. From Shelton/Olympia: Take Hwy 3 North all the way thru Allyn. At the "Y" in the road at Allyn, stay to the left (still Hwy 3) towards Belfair. Approximately 3 miles farther you will pass Lake Devereaux Road to the left and the Victor Cutoff Road to the right. Remain on Hwy 3. Right after the Victor Cutoff Road is a curve and then the school will be on the right. You will see North Mason High School reader board on the right. Make a right turn onto the high school road and then an immediate right turn up the driveway to the school. The main building with the gym is the big building on the right side of the parking lot.
