Marjorie Hay, age 77, died April 14, 2007 in Port Orchard, after a prolonged illness. She was born in Copley, OH, a small town west of Akron, OH on Aug. 31, 1929, and graduated from Copley High School in 1947. One of six children of Herman and Lucille Boehme, she was the only girl, but had no trouble holding her own with five brothers. She moved, along with her entire family, to Port Orchard in the early 1950's, following her brother Robert who had established a medical practice in Port Orchard. Along with raising two sons, she also worked as a legal secretary and paralegal specialist for a number of local attorneys including Fred Cohen, James Maddock, Dudley Perrine,Doug Fox, and Rick Gross. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church both locally and in Akron, and served in a number of officer positions including President and Treasurer at Elim Lutheran Church in Waterman. She was also a longtime member of the choir at Elim. She was active in PTA activities, the Kitsap Saddle Club, SK Band Boosters and the legal secretaries' local organizations and for years was an active participant in Family Kitchen activities involving her church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Lucille Boehme, her husband, Don Hay, and a brother, Richard, who was killed piloting a B-24 bomber in World War II. She is survived by two sons, Richard (Sandy) of Port Orchard, and Donald (Cindy) of Warrington, VA; two grandchildren, Michael and Robert, and one great grandchild; brothers Robert (Mary) and Donald (Joan) Boehme of Port Orchard, David (Shirley) of Poulsbo and Jack (Verla)of Keizer, OR.
