Marjorie Roinas

November 28, 1930 — August 9, 2004

Marjorie Eileen Dimmen Roinas November 28, 1930 to August 9, 2004 Marjorie Roinas, 73, of Port Orchard died August 9th at her home of cancer. Margie was born in Tacoma, Washington to Walter and Margaret Dimmen. She was raised in Ruston, in the Finnish/Norwegian community. She had a happy childhood with Point Defiance Park as her backyard. Her family moved to DeKalb, Illinois where she met and married the love of her life, Nels Roinas. They returned to the Northwest to raise their three children. They lived in Tacoma and Aberdeen before settling in Port Orchard. She enjoyed being with children and volunteering in various school districts. She served as a substitute teacher at Bright Beginnings Preschool through May of this year. She was a surrogate grandmother to many families and was always ready to help when needed. Margie and Nels have been members of Grace Bible Church for 22 years. She touched many lives and was involved in numerous activities there. Her personal relationship with Jesus Christ was most important to her, spending much of her time reading her Bible, listening to praise music, and telling others about the Lord. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and loved the sounds of grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing on their hobby farm. Her sense of humor and love of life are forever engraved upon our hearts. Time spent with family and their many friends were a treasure to her and a blessing for all of us! She is survived by her husband; three children, Cyndi (Mike) Smith of Gig Harbor, Jan (Jack) Hansen of Port Orchard, and Nels (Lisa) Roinas of Belfair; a sister, Barbara (John) Nelson of Illinois; 8 grandchildren, Erin (Skip) Baccus, Erik Brand, Ryan (Amanda) Hansen, Sarah, Jacob, Joel, Isaac and Isaiah Roinas; and 3 great-grandchildren, Austin, Morgan and Lauren Baccus. A Celebration of her life will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Bible Church, with a time of fellowship following at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Grace Bible Church c/o Missions at 7070 Bethel Burley Rd SE, Port Orchard, WA 98367.
