Mark Joseph Blazevich

August 13, 1968 — November 26, 2015

Heart of gold, kindness to all, generous in action and spirit – describe special people, but no more deserving than Mark Blazevich. He was devoted husband, son, brother, neighbor and friend to many, but mostly for his deep devotion to his wife and immediate family. Thursday, November 26, 2015, Mark passed in his sleep from a sudden heart attack. He was 47 years old.

Mark was born to Dr. Joseph Nicolas Blazevich, Sr. and Mary Ann (Victoria) Blazevich in Moscow, Idaho, August 13, 1968. He spent his formative years growing up in Corvallis, Oregon, Bellevue, WA and then Port Orchard, WA. In Bellevue at St. Louise Catholic School, he played soccer, thrived through Boy Scouts and school. He graduated from Port Orchard’s South Kitsap High School in 1986, and was awarded a vocational-technical scholarship.

After briefly attending Washington State University as a Cougar, he decided to take a different path and further his education at Olympic College where he received an Associate Technical Arts degree in Electronics in 1989. He also became proficient in auto mechanics and welding at that time.

Time to go to serious work. From childhood, Mark naturally was drawn to trucks. When Bo-Mac Concrete was hiring, he jumped at the opportunity. He built a record of keeping six diesel powered Oshkosh mixer trucks- this brand is a front discharge mixer, two dump trucks, one semi-truck and trailer, two front end loaders, bulldozer and excavator, and two forklifts in top running performance.

In 2009, Mark saw an opportunity to learn more about welding so he applied for the Student Trainee Helper Program the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. And he made a personal investment to be good at it. He was hired as a welder and became a member of shop 26. He had an easy-going personality. Here, it is bestto say, his co-workers became like family. Thank you to all who worked with Mark. You are a loyal, caring team.
Mark met Lolita on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend, Steve Miller. Mark enjoyed her company and soon asked her to marry him. On January 1, 2000 Mark became a happily married man.

Lolita soon found out that Mark had a love for keeping his cars, trucks and boat in top condition. But any free time away from working on fixing engines and getting them up and running, was spent with his wife, barbequing, going to the movies and swap meets. He enjoyed bicycling and the outdoors.

Pets were important to Lolita and Mark. Their pets filled their home with joy – including – their miniature poodles Goldie and Butterfly, the feathered friends – cockatoo, the cherokees and we can’t forget tanks full of tropical fish.

Once settled in, Lolita and Mark would travel internationally to visit her family in the Philippines. He was eagerly welcomed into their culture. They embraced his love of life and fishing, just like himself. Best of all, they celebrated with outdoor feasts. He would talk about Lecon, dish which features a whole roasted pig cooked over charcoal. Right up Mark’s alley of loving to barbeque.
They had a dream that they would retire someday in the Philippines. And he had made plans to fly this month to be with Lolita at the house where a dream could be fulfilled. It was not to be.
Mark will be remembered by his family as tirelessly giving all he could. Survivors include: wife Lolita, his mother Mary Ann, brother Joe, sister Maria, sister Carol (husband Joe), nieces Michelle and Katherine. The Aton family including Gloria (Lolita’s sister), Antonio, Victorio and Jesus (Lolita’s brothers) and many nieces and nephews.
