Mark Matthew Steichen died April 18, 2003 at Ridgemont Terrace Care Center in Port Orchard, Washington. He was 84.He was born March 20, 1919 to Matthew Killiam and Mary Priscilla (Morris) Steichen in Tacoma, Washington.Mark married Delores (Southwell) Steichen in Tacoma, Washington August 24, 1947.He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington in 1939.He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.Mark was a pipefitter and draftsman in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 42 years - retiring May 28, 1982.He was a member of the American Legion, The Peninsula Fruit Club of Bremerton. He volunteered for Archaelogical digs for the U.S. Forest Service Passport in Time Program, Sidney Museum and Art Association, and the Mosquito Fleet of Port Orchard. His interests also included photography, gardening, grafting fruit, hiking, fishing and archeology. He was a member of Unity Church in Bremerton.Mark is survived by his wife Delores (Southwell) Steichen of Tacoma, Washington; son - Tim Steichen (& wife, Renee) of Port Orchard, Washington; daughter - Karin Graves (& husband, Bill) of Beaverton, Washington; brothers - twins - Don and Dale Steichen of Tacoma, Washington; 3 grandchildren: Emma Graves, Mark Graves and Max Graves.Mark was preceded in death by brother, Ray Steichen. Visitation will be held at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington on Tuesday, April 22 from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 23 from 10:00 to 4:00 p.m.A funeral wil be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington.Interment will be held at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor, Washington.
