Markus Schmitter

Markus Thomas Schmitter, 39, died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on April 14, 2001 of injuries suffered in an explosion at his residence in Tahuya, Washington 6 days earlier. He was born in Dulliken Switzerland on September 5, 1961 to Paul & Ida Rosa (Schleiss) Schmitter. Markus married Jill Luts in 1998 in Bremerton. Jill died of cancer on April 13, 2000.Markus worked as a Ferrier for the past 4 years and enjoyed endurance horse riding. He also served in the Swiss Army.Surviving are his son Aramas S. Schmitter of the family home; parents Paul & Ida Rosa (Schleiss) Schmitter of Switzerland; brothers Manfred Schmitter of Washington and Beat Schmitter of Switerland; and sisters Elizabeth and Priska Schmitter, both of Switzerland.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at 4:00pm at the First Christian Church on Hovde Road, near the Sedgwick interchange in Port Orchard. Memorial contributions may be made at any Washington Mutual Bank to a fund established in Markus Schmitter's name.
