Marlin Little

January 23, 1936 — January 3, 2006

After many years of fighting the good fight, Marlin was liberated on January 3, 2006. Born in Fort Monroe, Virginia to Joseph and Helena Little, Marlin was the son of a military family, joking that he had attended 13 different schools in 12 years. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Hawaii, he joined the Air National Guard as a flight mechanic. After attending college at the University of Hawaii he went to an Air Force flying school and flew with the 199th Fighter Interceptor Squadron for the Guard in Hawaii. He proudly served in Vietnam flying many combat missions and retired as a Major after a 20 year career. Marlin was also a Captain with Hawaiian Airlines until his medical retirement in 1985. During his time at Hawaiian Airlines, he also served for a couple of years as the union representative of the Airlines Pilot's Association (ALPA). In addition to his flying career, Marlin was also a certified flight instructor for single and multi-engine aircrafts as well as gliders. He was an avid sports enthusiast who loved soccer, water and snow skiing, bowling, and even coached many women and men soccer teams. His 35 years of recovery in a 12-step program was one of his greatest accomplishments. Marlin is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lynne Little; daughters Cindy Naud and son-in-law Kevin Naud of Port Orchard, WA; Lori Little of Port Orchard, WA; Debbie Roa and son-in-law Roger Roa of Anaheim Hills, CA. Grandsons Kevin Naud Jr. of Bellingham, WA; Jason Naud of Port Orchard, WA; step-granddaughters Taylor and Cassie Roa of Anaheim Hills, CA and his two furry friends Punkin and Buddy. Also survived by brothers John Little of Anacortes, WA; Joseph Little and sister-in-law Marianne of Colorado; sister Sharon Ogawa and brother-in-law Robert Ogawa from Honolulu, HI and many nieces and nephews. Marlin and Lynne moved from Hawaii to Washington State in 1988 and have resided in Port Orchard since 1997. While in Washington, Marlin developed a passion for radio control aircraft flying and was instrumental in developing multiple flying fields in Kitsap County. In his retirement, one of his proudest moments was the naming of Little Field. Marlin was loved and respected by family and friends and will be greatly missed. His strength, determination and deep love for his wife and family was an inspiration to all. Services will be held at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2006.
